Platform Infrastructure Engineer

Critical industries need frontier engineers. Sea12 helps to make that happen.

We work with some of the largest public and private companies in the world, in manufacturing, logistics, and construction, taking an executive-level approach to their toughest problems and solving them with our technology. We are well funded by leading VCs, growing quickly, and have secured enterprise-scale engagements with lasting impact.

The role

As a Platform Infrastructure Engineer, you own the systems every engagement runs on: the cloud environments, data pipelines, and deployment tooling that let a small team ship into demanding customer environments and keep running once we're gone.

The infrastructure is large, complex, and unforgiving. A pipeline that drops customer records, or an environment that goes down mid-engagement, has real consequences — so reliability and correctness come before cleverness.

What you'll do

  • Design and operate the cloud infrastructure (GCP) that our deployments and data workloads run on.
  • Build and maintain the pipelines that ingest, process, and serve large volumes of customer data reliably.
  • Own deployment, observability, and incident response for systems running in production at customers.
  • Set the engineering bar for reliability, security, and cost across the platform.
  • Work with forward deployed engineers to make customer environments reproducible and boring to operate.

What we're looking for

  • Experience — 4+ years building and operating production infrastructure, platform, or backend systems.
  • Infrastructure depth — Strong hands-on experience with a major cloud (GCP preferred), containers and orchestration, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD. You have run systems where downtime and data loss were not acceptable.
  • Scale — You have worked on large, complex, high-stakes infrastructure and can point to systems you kept running under real load and real consequences.
  • Coding ability — Strong in at least one of Python, Go, or TypeScript, and comfortable reading and debugging code you didn't write.
  • Judgment — You make sound build-vs-buy and reliability tradeoffs, and you write things down so the next person isn't guessing.
  • Education — Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Practical details

  • Base salary of $160,000–$200,000+, plus meaningful equity. This role's compensation scales with experience more than most — senior candidates should expect to land above the range.
  • Full-time, starting as soon as you can.
  • In person five days a week at our SoHo office.
  • Occasional travel to customer sites when an engagement calls for it.
